SYRC

SYRC stands for Skadada Youth Runway Circus. It is an aerial circus, dance and acrobatics training program for young people based in Perth, WA. SYRC was launched in January 2004 as the youth wing of the highly successful WA dance and circus company Skadada. The ultimate aim of SYRC is to train world-class performers who can move effortlessly between the ground and air.

SYRC trainees come from a variety of different training backgrounds including artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, dance, contortion, callisthenics, diving, swimming, yoga and martial arts. Some SYRC trainees have had no previous training but show great physical potential and enthusiasm for circus. The trainees have at least three training sessions of two hours duration per week. In the lead up to performances, their training hours increase due to additional rehearsals.

SYRC trainees perform at schools and Youth programs throughout the year. Every year they perform a new show. Last years show was called ZONE. It showcased double silks, double lyra, straps and all new tumbling skills. The show touried to several schools, throughout the wheat belt and down south to Esperance.

This years show is called VIVO and it explores the wonders of the human body and what it can do. Featuring contortion, Silks, Triple Trapeze and Lyra it is a not to be missed experience that will stay with the audience long after the performance is over!
